The First Year of School

Begindergarten is a term referring to the school year preceding kindergarten. It is a semi-formal academic curriculum that is held in a classroom setting. The begindergarten year begins when the child is four to five years old.

Attending a year of this classroom based schooling helps prepare the new student for what is widely considered as the first year of school: kindergarten.

Begindergarten is by no means a required curriculum and may not be right for every child. It does however prepare the young learner to be more prepared for the formal curriculum taught in the first two years of elementary school.

In the past, this first year of schooling has evolved from nursery school to pre-kindergarten to now – Begindergarten.
